One of the most popular scenic drives in GSMNP - a 5.5-mile one-way loop through old-growth forest with access to Grotto Falls (2.6 mi roundtrip), Rainbow Falls (5.4 mi roundtrip), and historic cabins. Open March through November. The trail starts from Historic Nature Trail Road in Gatlinburg.
Start before 8 AM to beat the crowds and find parking. Grotto Falls is the easiest waterfall hike (you can walk behind the falls). Rainbow Falls is longer but more dramatic. The historic cabins along the road are worth stopping at.
