Not a cabin — an 1825 Federal-style brick house on the National Register of Historic Places, with the Queen Anne porch and stained-glass windows added in 1889 still in place. Three kings, two queens and two twins across five bedrooms, twelve guests, three full baths. Fireplaces downstairs and in most of the bedrooms, toile wallpaper, chandeliers, a two-storey stair hall. Outside: a sixty-foot rocking-chair porch, a brick courtyard with an outdoor table, a gas grill, and lawns and old-growth shade trees running to the treeline. A work station for anyone who has to log on. Boyd’s Creek, outside Sevierville, four level parking spots, trailer friendly. No pets, and no pool.

Step into nearly two centuries of Tennessee history at Wheatland's Plantation, one of Sevier County's most treasured historic estates. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975, this remarkable Federal-style plantation home offers a rare opportunity to experience the elegance, craftsmanship, and enduring legacy of one of East Tennessee's most significant landmarks.

Founded in 1791 by Revolutionary War veteran Timothy Chandler, Wheatland's grew from a frontier homestead into one of the region's most prominent plantations. The present home, built around 1825 after the original farmhouse was lost to fire, showcases exceptional Federal architecture with handcrafted woodwork, Flemish-bond brick masonry, and beautifully preserved period details that have stood the test of time.

Arriving

Throughout its history, Wheatland's witnessed the transformation of East Tennessee—from the early frontier days and thriving agricultural trade to the Civil War, when Union troops occupied the property during the winter months. Following the war, portions of the estate became home to the historic Chandler Gap community, adding another meaningful chapter to the property's rich and evolving story.

Bedrooms & Sleeping

Today, guests can enjoy the rare opportunity to stay in this extraordinary 3,672-square-foot historic home while experiencing modern comforts. The estate features five beautifully appointed bedrooms, three bathrooms, gracious gathering spaces, and an updated kitchen, all thoughtfully balanced with the home's original character. Relax in the grand parlor with its original hardwood floors, unwind on the iconic front porch overlooking the rolling countryside, or stroll the grounds where historic outbuildings, ancient shade trees, and generations of history remain beautifully preserved.

The Area

Located in the historic Boyd's Creek community, Wheatland's Plantation is just minutes from Sevierville, Seymour, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Dollywood, offering the perfect blend of historical significance and modern convenience.

Why Guests Book This Cabin

More than a vacation home, Wheatland's Plantation is a living piece of Tennessee history—an opportunity to experience the stories, architecture, and timeless elegance of a place that has welcomed generations for over 200 years.

THINGS TO KNOW
CANCELLATION & REFUND
  • Without Deposit Protection: no refund, no reschedule
  • With it: cancel up to 60 days before arrival
  • With it: one reschedule up to 30 days before
How it works

Bear Camp’s standard terms are strict — without Deposit Protection there is no refund and no reschedule, for any reason. Deposit Protection is added at booking, and it is what opens the cancellation window.

This cabin has four or more bedrooms, so the 4+ bedroom terms apply: cancel at least 60 days before arrival for a refund, or reschedule once if you ask at least 30 days before arrival. Inside 60 days the deposit is forfeited.

How this compares: the default terms here are stricter than a typical platform cancellation policy, so this is worth understanding before you book rather than after. What Deposit Protection adds that most strict policies elsewhere do not: a free reschedule.

PAYING FOR IT
  • 50% deposit at booking
  • Balance due 30 days before check-in
  • Deposit Protection is chosen at booking
How it works

You pay half when you book and the rest thirty days before check-in — the same date the reschedule window closes. Nothing is charged in between.

Deposit Protection has to be added at the time of booking. It cannot be added later, so if there is any chance your dates move, decide at checkout.

PROPERTY PROTECTION
  • Three tiers: $500, $1,000 or $2,500
  • Covers accidental damage during the stay
  • Chosen at booking
How it works

Property Protection covers accidental damage during your stay up to the tier you pick — $500, $1,000 or $2,500 of coverage.

It is not insurance for your trip; it covers the cabin. Deposit Protection, above, is the one that covers your dates.

Check-in 4:00 PM EST · check-out 10:00 AM EST, billed at $125 per half hour after · the booking guest must be 25 or older on a four-bedroom cabin or larger. Terms are Bear Camp Cabin Rentals’; the rental agreement governs.
