Cades Cove Golf brings an easygoing round of mini golf to Townsend, the quiet side of the Smokies. It is a family-owned course run by Blount County natives whose family heritage traces back to Cades Cove in the national park, and their stated goal is simple: a slower pace and time together. It suits an evening after a day in the Cove, when the kids still have energy and the grown-ups want something low-key.
The 18-hole course is designed to look like a regular golf course rather than a neon theme park, with natural landscaping, solar lighting, a bear silhouette and a photo-op sign. Rocking chairs, benches and a picnic area give non-players a place to settle in. Little ones get their own small play area with a separate green, plastic putters and balls. Snacks, drinks and novelty ice cream are available at the counter.
The course sits on East Lamar Alexander Parkway in Townsend, just past the Little River Railroad and Lumber Company Museum. Children 3 and under play free. Single rounds and all-day passes are sold for children 4 to 13, adults 14 to 64 and seniors 65 and up, and a day pass covers unlimited rounds for that calendar day. Posted closing times are the last tee time. Groups, birthday parties and field trips can be booked in advance through the website.
