Ziplining is one of the few Smokies activities where a nine-year-old and a sixty-year-old can have the same day. Every course below is within a short drive of Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville and runs on booked time slots, so a group can take a morning tour and still be back at the cabin for lunch.
They differ in height, length and how much walking is involved. Check age and weight limits before you book, since they vary by course and decide who in your group can ride.

CLIMB Works Smoky Mountains
A two-hour mountaintop canopy tour just across the road from the national park, which surrounds the course on three sides. A UTV carries you up more than 500 feet on forest trails, then you zip side by side on dual lines, cross suspension bridges and finish with controlled rappels. Ages 5 and up can ride, so grandparents and kids can share the tour.
Good to know: Reservations required; open year-round but closed Sundays.

Seven lines adding up to about 2.5 miles, with the course reaching as high as 480 feet above the ground. Dual cables and automatic braking make it a comfortable first zip for nervous riders, and air-conditioned vans handle some of the transfers between lines, so there is very little walking. Plan on about two and a half hours.
Good to know: Ages 4+, 40-270 lbs; tours hold 12 riders, so big groups book several.
Closest Vantage cabins: Bearskin Getaway (10-15 min), Grace Manor (10-15 min)

A 150-acre park with more than 15 ziplines split into separate tours, from a canopy course that starts on three short beginner lines to the Goliath tour, which ends on a line 500 feet off the ground. There is also a suspended swinging bridge, a 60-foot climbing wall, an aerial obstacle course and hiking trails for anyone who would rather not zip.
Good to know: Beginners take the canopy tour; height seekers want the Goliath tour.
Closest Vantage cabins: Bearskin Getaway (15-20 min), Grace Manor (20-25 min)

A Pigeon Forge canopy tour that the operator bills as the longest-running in the area. Seven lines stretch up to 800 feet long and more than 150 feet above the forest floor, and the tour takes about two hours. It is the only pick on this list in Pigeon Forge itself, handy for a group that does not want a long drive.
Good to know: Plan on about two hours; call ahead for group bookings.

An eight-line tour on the Parkway across from the Tanger Outlets, with lines up to 2,000 feet long and speeds up to 50 mph. At about two hours it fits neatly around a shopping or dining day in Sevierville, and the park pairs it with trail rides at Five Oaks Riding Stables for a zipline and horseback combo.
Good to know: Ages 4+, 40-270 lbs; wet weather lowers the single-rider limit to 225.
Closest Vantage cabins: Carpenters Splashin Paradise - Waterpark (5-10 min), Pigeon Forge Getaway (5-10 min)

Six lines covering nearly two miles, starting around 40 feet up and building to lines that glide 250 feet above the forest floor at up to 40 mph. The guides do all of the work on the platforms, which makes it a relaxed pick for families, couples and first-time flyers, and it is minutes from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
Good to know: Riders must be 5 or older and weigh 45-275 lbs.
Closest Vantage cabins: Serenity Mountain Pool Lodge (5-10 min), Carpenters Splashin Paradise - Waterpark (15-20 min)

The zipline inside Anakeesta, the mountaintop park you reach by gondola from downtown Gatlinburg. Riders fly side by side with a friend across three zips and finish with two rappels of more than 50 feet. Because it is an add-on to general admission, the zippers can ride while the rest of the group explores the park.
Good to know: Ages 7+ and 70-270 lbs; arrive at the gondola 30 minutes early.
Closest Vantage cabins: Greystone (5-10 min), Four Bears Den (5-10 min)

Tips for Groups
- Legacy Mountain takes up to 12 riders per tour, so a group of 20 should book back-to-back slots and ask other courses about their group size when reserving.
- Wear snug closed-toe shoes such as sneakers or hiking boots. Legacy Mountain requires a fully enclosed toe and heel, and harnesses and platforms are no place for flip-flops.
- Book morning tours in summer. Afternoon storms can pause lines, and Anakeesta notes that high winds or storms may suspend its zipline.
