About

The Rocky Top Wine Trail is an easy way to turn an afternoon into a relaxed tasting tour without leaving the Pigeon Forge and Sevierville area. It connects five stops: Mountain Valley Winery on the Parkway, Hillside Winery on Collier Drive, and three tasting rooms at the Apple Barn on Apple Valley Road, the Apple Barn Winery, the Apple Barn Hard Cider Company and the Apple Barn Dessert Wine Shoppe. It suits couples, friend groups and anyone looking for a grown-up rainy-day plan.

There are two ways to do it. Self-guided visitors pick up a passport at their first winery, collect a stamp at each stop, and receive a free gift after stamping all five; each location pours two complimentary samples, with the option to taste the full list for a fee. For a chauffeured day, VIP tours pair a shuttle and guide with extra samples and purchase discounts. The Shots and Glasses tour adds a moonshine distillery stop and lunch, with prices listed from about 50 dollars per person.

All tasting requires guests to be 21 or older with a valid ID, though there is no age limit simply to visit the wineries. The trail is open seven days a week, and VIP tours are booked online or by calling (866) 453-6334, which the trail recommends for larger groups. Mountain Valley Winery at 2174 Parkway is the trail's home base. If you drive the self-guided route, choose a designated driver or plan on the shuttle.
